Women Empowerment

ADA encourages women’s empowerment in many areas including education, health, and economic opportunities:

Education: we intervene to achieve gender parity in primary education; we provide sewing training for girls.

Health: Our goal is to make sure women and girls hace access to improved health, water, and sanitation services.

Economic opportunities: We make efforts to help women entrepreneurs increase their yearly earnings by 68 % after securing a loan. We create opportunities for women to earn a wage.

Political represenatiom: We help women to successfully be part of democratoc elections and other community events.

Violence against women: We advocate for reduction in violence against women I Congo where rapes have been used as a weapon of war since 1996. We stand with local communities to advocate the restoaration of women’s health and dignity.

War-torn Congo has been called the “rape capital of the world” ( Washingtonpost.com 2017/08/28). It is estimated that there are 200,000 surviving rape victims living in Congo today.
Horrific levels of rape and other forms of sexual violence have plagued eastern Democratic Republic of Congo for two decades. Women raped and otherwise sexually abused; women sex slaves
A 2020 report recorded that 1,000 women have been raped daily in eastern Congo.
